Memories
I did not know Kathleen nearly long enough...I loved talking dog training with her. I will miss her greatly... Tammy Farrington
-----------------------------------
We drove for over 2 hours to see her and the Gilley Girls
the first time.
We saw them several times after that, including Gettysburg
2010. She gave us wonderful advice on training or dogs.
We sat with them; they were so nice. What a shame......
we are shedding tears for Gil and the dogs....

I meet Kathleen and Gil at The First Sandy Paws and saw them again here at North Park, Pittsburgh, PA. Their shows were fantastic and I could of watched them all day - I hope Gil does not give up entertaining with his pups and spreading the word about our beloved greyhounds At Sandy Paws my car was parked in the same lot as their Motor Home and had a very enjoyable time of watching the antics of the greys that were in there. I know Kathleen was greeted by a pack of greyhounds when she reached the Bridge - Rest in Peace Kathleen Gil, there are no words to bring you comfort with the untimely death of Kathleen all I can do is send you hugs and my love and a big Thank You {{{Gil}}} Then God sent the Greyhound to live among man and remember. And when the Day comes, God will call the Greyhound to give Testament, and God will pass judgment on man. (Persian Proverb) -----------

--------------- It is with sadness I read the news about Kathleen passed away. I never had the opportunity to go and see your show but I loved the photos
------------------------ I just heard about Kathleen. I am so, so sorry. I only got to see her and the Gilley Girls one time, when they came out here to Denver. But, as one of the old timers on greyhound-l, I of course knew about her and her girls. What a very sad loss, but I hope she is dancing with her hounds at the bridge. I hope Gil will be ok. Please let him know that many, many people and greyhounds love them and think about them. Stephanie Russell

I just read about Kathleen Gilley's untimely passing on the dancing greyhounds website and feel very sad. My fiance Julie and I met the couple at a campground on the Grand Mesa here in Colorado in the middle of August 2010. They were both very kind people who loved their greyhounds. We spent some time talking with them about the dogs, the shows they attended and how they traveled serving as campground hosts in various locations. Since that time I have often thought about them, what they were doing and where they were. I can't imagine the loss Gil must feel, having a life long partner such as Kathleen has left a big hole in his heart, our thoughts and prayers are with him. We hope that he finds happiness in whatever he is doing now and tries to move on, though it is surely very difficult for him. We know that she is up in heaven looking down upon Gil and the dogs, watching over them very closely. Hopefully, he is still serving as campground host and that we will be fortunate enough to see him again someday. Respectfully, Roger Robison & Julie Eddy Arvada, CO |

The Greyhound world has lost a greyt lady - there is no one to replace her. I remember corresponding with her when I found an article she had written for the Winnebago News Letter. She was so gracious in responding to me. I have always enjoyed reading what is on your website and the knowledge you passed on. Your understanding of the Greyhound is unsurpassed. Sara & Roxy & Teny Funnyman, Shooter, Slim and Warrior waiting at the Rainbow Bridge Find your furever furbuddy at GPA GNW ------------------ I can't help but wonder: How many hounds found homes either directly or indirectly because of what Kathleen & Gil have done over the years? If Kathleen knew, she never boasted about it. It wasn't her style. From my perspective, Kathleen's knowledge of Greyhound medical and training issues was only surpassed by her intelligence and keen sense of humor. I loved listening to her speak and reading her articles. If I were to write a letter to Kathleen in heaven I would say simply this: "Thank you, Kathleen, for all that you were. We will always love & miss you." I think she would enjoy the brevity! Gil, we can never truly know your pain or depth of loss - nor can we fix it - but it is my personal hope that the outpouring of sentiments shared by those here will, in time, ease the pain you feel and leave you with only loving memories. Mary Ann & David Dituro West Palm Beach, FL --------- We were privileged to see Kathleen and Gil and their Gilley Girls perform in Atlanta a few years after we adopted our first greyhound. Her sense of humor and her love and respect for Greyhounds was evident in every breath she took. She will be sorely missed by the entire Greyhound Community! Run free with your bridge pups, Kathleen! Bobby & Madeline Meixner ------ What a shame. It does not make sense. She and Gil were such wonderful Greyhound advocates. They were such nice people, period. We drove over two hours to see them near Philadelphia the first time, which was well worth the trip. Most recently, we saw them at Gettysburg, and sat with them----we said "see you at the next one". We attended both performances at Gettysburg--- we are so glad that we did. Our hearts go out ot Gil and "the girls". Keith and Georgia Schilling Greyhound Friends Of New Jersey ------------------Sorry for your loss Gil, Kathleen will be sorely missed by all in the Greyhound community. -- Your Friend, Don C------------------Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the pups. Hugs and Love, Darlene, Garon, Santannah, Selena, and Mosa------------So very sad! We had some wonderful conversations together as well as good times as we stocked you up with all the sweatshirts you'd ever need while you were here in Minnesota. It was Kathleen that sent me on my the flight to Florida to bring Lady Flash back with me. Kathleen, you were and are Grandest Greyhound Goddess ever. Now the gh kids waiting at the bridge will have someone wonderful to dance with. God Speed Kathleen and God Bless you Gil! Love and hugs,Robin KrautbauerGPA-Minnesota ---------I never met her in person, but we corresponded from time to time over the years. I've been a grey owner for almost 38 years now, and ran into the troup on the animal planet. I missed the appearance in Charlotte due to work. The world has lost a great advocate for the hounds... I have lost a friend that I've never met. <sigh> My prayers are with Gil at this point. I wish there were something I could do. Bill Blomgren--------------I am so sorry to hear of Kathleen's passing. I was fortunate enough to talk with Kathleen a few years ago about some of her articles on greyhound pysche which she graciously allowed us to use in our adoption packets and in our newsletter. Her knowledge of how track greyhounds viewed the world has been invaluable in my dealings with and understanding of my hounds and foster hounds. The greyhound world has truly, truly lost an angel here on earth. My heart goes out to Gil and her four legged kids. Barb Lund with angels Sweetie, Boone, Chick and Amanda GPA-MN ----------------- For anyone who would like to read Kathleen's wonderful piece "What is Your New Greyhound Thinking", we have it up on our website at: http://godsgreyts.com/resources/ Kathleen was an inspiration to all and we will miss seeing her, Gil and the Girls at the events. Rest in peace, Kathleen. Heaven is a better place, now. carolB, the volunteers and the hounds of God's Greyts. |

My heart is absolutely breaking for Gil, for their hounds and for all the friends who loved them – including fans they’d never met in person. I did get to attend two of their performances, the last one at Sandy Paws a couple of years ago, and I feel privileged to have met Kathleen at that performance. They brought such love and joy to the Greyhound world – my very deepest condolences to Gil. Soulmates should not have to part too soon – he and “the girls” will remain in my prayers. The Greyhound community has lost a very special lady with the passing of our Kathleen Gilley. I send special condolences to Gil and his "girls" who have lost their life partner and forever love. I was blessed to have been to a Gilley Girl performance years ago when Kathleen, Gil and the girls gave a show at a fundraiser our Greyhound group was sponsoring at Amy Doherty's home in Manlius New York. What a greyt show they put on and I have photos I took that day as I was in total awe of the way the Gilley's got their girls to do such incredible tricks with love and patience. That day was so very special to me and I have the memories to keep in my heart forever. I know that there must have been an incredible greyt "roo - fest" when Kathleen arrived at the Rainbow Bridge. Gil, my hounds and I send you our love and hopes that you will still have happiness in your life with the girls. Amy Sheneman and the Caz Crew Cazenovia, N.Y. |

I first saw the Gilley Girls at the MN State Fair in 2009. I was so impressed with their show that I knew this was the breed I really wanted. The next day I contacted Northern Lights about adopting one of these beautiful dogs. I had the pleasure of meeting Kathleen in September of 2010 when she brought her "family" to perform for my Senior Campus in St. Louis Park, MN. My residents still talk about it, and Kathleen and Gil brought an immense amount of knowledge, quality of life, and appreciation for the breed to my seniors. I had the pleasure of e-mailing with Kathleen for the 6 months leading up to the performance. I enjoyed her witty humor, love of life, passion for the greyhounds, and knowledge. She will be missed by greyhound lovers all over the United States. Laura Hopp Director of Programs, Parkshore Senior Campus St. Louis Park, Minnesota
